Here’s a great way to generate a post: Write from the point of view from another character. Decide that today’s post will be written by an expert in archeology who has just discovered your blog in the future. Or maybe you could relay a conversation that happened to you today from the other person’s point of view, including what they might have been thinking or feeling at the time.

Your imagination is like a muscle, you have to exercise it to keep it healthy and active.

A great way to generate topic ideas (not to mention traffic) is by commenting on other people’s blogs. Leverage the topic idea of another writer to generate thoughts from which you can build a post. Don’t forget to generate a back link to the original author’s post to share your comments and elaborations with their audience.

Whenever you find yourself with nothing to blog about, a great way to get your creative juices flowing is to shut down your computer and go outside. Go shopping, walk through a book store, take the dogs for a walk. Do anything that gets you away from you computer and interacting with nature or other people.

Unless you have an extremely active imagination, it’s easy to find yourself with nothing to write about if you don’t do anything!

Don’t forget to take your blogging notebook along to make notes in along the way.

Inspiration for a post can come from simply asking yourself, or your readers, a question and working your way through the issue “aloud.”

Some sample questions you could ask:

• “If I could choose three celebrities to interview or have dinner with, who would they be and why?”
• “Where would I live if money and family were no object?”
• “Why do I oppose/support stem cell research?”
• “What albums from my collection could I not live without?”
• “What book do I wish I had written?”

• the story of your birth
• how your parents met
• how your grandparents met
• chronicle your efforts to create your family tree
• research and write about which of your family members was the first to immigrate to the US and when
• be daring and publish those deep dark family secrets no one talks about

These can get you started. You might have a treasure trove of posts born from this idea.
