When most of us start blogging we rush into it and learn as we go. Determined to change the world as we go. Which I of course think is a great idea. Unfortunately most of us make a few mistakes when we start. Some mistakes are minor, while others can be devastating. One decision we make early on is who to register our domain name with. There are many companies out there. At first glance they all seem to be about the same. The only noticeable difference in the beginning is the price. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Recent Registerfly the company that registered the Easter Seals, The Government of Thailand lost their accreditation. Leaving potentially 900,000 customers in the dark. link I myself had problems with my register this morning. I have been using GoDaddy for the past 6 or 7 years as my register. This morning on the phone they informed me they were holding one of my domains hostage and I would need to pay $80 to free it. The problem here is they hold all the cards. I have no recourse except to pay the money or loose the domain. In the years Paul and I have been working together he has been with Dotster.com I can say that he has had no problems with them. In fact we have always sent our customers for our web design business there. So I can personally recommend them. Before I typed that last line I did a google search looking for complaints about Dotster. It is only after reading through the results of that I feel confident that I can recommend them.
On the other hand google Godaddy Sucks and compare the difference. While reading the all the posts for godaddy I found several people posting about a great company Moniker. I performed the same search about service. I am glad to say that not one complaint came up about Moniker. So I have decide to perform a little test. While I still would recommend dotster I am going to try Moniker and report back.
